I have had the time for the dust to settle that was swirling around my TyTnII purchase and now I need to get down to fully maximizing its use. This thread is about the GPS and attendant software. I purchased my model in Dubai and it DID NOT come with Tom Tom GpS software. What to do?

Are there TomTom maps available for the UAE? I'm not interested in a GCC wide map which I've seen mentioned on one of the threads here. If TOmToM makes a UAE map or portion thereof, then how do I go about getting the software onto my device. I'm a little pissed the software didn't come with the phone.....If it's not beneficial to download tOmTOm then what's the next best alternative for this area, and where I can get it? (preferably from the 'net) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I read every page of the 15 page thread and it was very informative. You seemed to recommend Route sixty-six and Navicon if I remember correctly. At the same time Mohammed Ashram is intimating that HTC will come out with software for the GPS application with maps for our area, i.e. the UAE, but there doesn't seem to an announced date of release. In any event, where could I get the Route SixtySix (i've got a busted keyboard and can't type the number six, hehe) either here on the web (the preferred way) or at a retail outlet in the Dubair/Sharjah/Ajman area.

Many thanks and good job on the TyTNII thread. I'll probably make more contributions to it now that I'm trying to fully utilize my TyTnII.

I suggest you try before you buy as some say Route66 wont work for them and others no problem

As for Navigon 6, MA offical response from them was no ME maps but they are out there

It's all very odd IMO as I don't belive these are maps fixed from older versions to run on the newer

Detinator I could not get to work

Igo never tried

Garmin there is reps both in AD and Dubai so proper support

I'd wait for HTC free release and save 700-1000Dr IMO

looking forward to your posts Smile

All in all

Serious problems using CoPilot Live 7

I tried out the "free" software that comes with the HTC TyTN II... but you get what you pay for (or maybe I should say "you pay for what you get"). See my post here
