Does anyone know if there is a program available that allows for the possibilty to remote-lock one's PPC device by sending a specific text message (sms) in case its lost/stolen?

There's one that sends sms to you from the stolen device but not the other way.

Your service provider can lock your sim but not device

this way our info on the device can be safe. additionally, if there's a sim change the device would automatically send an sms to a pre-defined numbers enabling us to trace the phone and at the same time send the pre-assigned sms for data removal to the thief's mobile no on the stolen mobile.

Apparently there are a few Remote deletion of data on a stolen device is a feature already offered by other software packages, such as Microsoft's System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 and Trust Digital's Smartphone Security.

However, these programs target enterprise deployments and require server-side software. Kaspersky's product, in contrast, may be more appropriate for use by an individual or small business.

Thanks a million Steve for that valuable info.

However, (sorry for being such a drag) the only down-side with this Kaspersky solution is the payment of $30 that needs to be paid every year to renew this software.

I was hoping for something on the same lines as the Kaspersky Anti-Theft solution (minus he Anti-Malware)and a one time payment for the software.

I'm also digging in to find such a software and would appreciate your help as well.
