Hi,
I'm thinking of a new imate ppc from expansys but wondering about how easy to get it arabized?! I know that devices sold in mideast come with builtin arabizers in their roms, so can I replace the english roms with arabic ones? Or is there another way to arabize english versions of the devices? Another question, if I get an external arabizer, can I still install the gitex upgrade? Thank you. |

I never tried to replace the ROM for i-mate, could be practically possible, but never tried it before. Well, why don't you install it seperatly, I think it is better to have the applications loaded in RAM instead of ROM. So it is more flexible to upgrade it. You can join our contest and win the software.

Thank you Mohd.
I think putting the arabizer in the rom is better as it gonna to give more space for other apps in ram, isn't it?! Are you aware of any shop in dubai being able to send imate abroad? |

quote: I didn’t like this idea of having Pocket Arabizer preloaded in ROM, What if I want to use another Arabic program from another developer?!?! I will end up wasting even more ROM and RAM space this way. That’s if they don’t conflict with each other. It is always better to have Arabizer in the Companion CD, so I can install it whenever I want to. And remove it whenever I want to. One more thing, if there is a new updated version of Pocket Arabizer, you cannot just download it from the developer’s site and install it. You will have to wait for the OEM (I-mate in this case) to provide a ROM update for the new version of Arabizer, because Arabizer is installed in the ROM. How quick can they do that, and how efficient are they to provide and communicate this to all I-mate customer!?!? This still needs to be seen! |

I'm with Mohd, you need more freedom for apps to be installed or not, you choose.

First of all thank you brother Alman.
Secondly, Mohd! you are right. Actually I was looking at the thing from a technical point of view (why putting lots of rom and not utilizing it and condense on valuable ram). But when it comes to convenience, then you are right! So which is better: buying an English imate ppc with separate arabizer, or buying an Arabic-built-in one? All views are welcome. |

Mohd, is right. But it depends what you want in a PPC. The iMaginet package is not bad. I like it, its got a good Quran with excellent search and voice facilities. Good translations. Good Arabic English and English Arabic Dictionary with fast transaltion, and Arabic/English SMS and Emails etc. Its a good package with almost no bugs.

quote: Alman, I never mentioned anything regarding Pocket Quran, it is a great applications, which is by the way doesn’t need Pocket Arabizer to be installed at all. I am talking about Pocket Arabizer only. Not everybody wants to be stuck with no option but to have this memory reserved for Pocket Arabizer, what if I am more comfortable with another application, I just end up settling with Arabizer, or I install the other application to work side by side with it, that’s if it didn’t conflict with it. This totally self preference, I always think it is better to keep Arabizer in the CD instead, and they should increase the ROM file store for non-volatile storage. |

I see your point, but how much space does the Arabizer take from the ROM - out of curiosity
