E-TEN G500 is an excellent Pocket PC phone. Yes, it lacks built-in Wi-Fi (that can however be added by miniSD Wi-Fi card) but it is quad-band (good both for Europe and USA), has built-in GPS of latest generation (SiRF Star III = very sensitive), TMC (for omitting traffic jams), FM radio with RDS, very fast processor from Samsung (400 MHz = faster than Intel 520 MHz processor), Bluetooth 2.0 (not 1.2!) and miniSD card slot.

Good One Docc.... lack of WiFi, and built in GPS is a kind of trade-off, which might attract customers (might loose few too)

Personally, i am very fond of this device. I like the form factor and i know that their software customisations are simply super. Add to this GPS support and i am SOLD! Smile

Hey guys,

this sucks! whenever you think you have decided on a device, they introduce a new one. I was going to get the M600 then add memory and GPS but then the G500 comes out and I am thinking to get it with memory and wifi. What do you guys think, should I get the G500 or the M600? btw they are the same price in the US.

One more thing, some people are saying the form factor for the M600 isn’t that great, is this true?

Thnx.

fbeyd,

Personally, i would suggest the G500 ONLY if you can do without native WiFi support. You could however add a Mini-SDIO Wifi card Wink

Regarding the M600, i think its a good device and doesn't have any build or form-factor issues as you mentioned. Only thing is that the housing has a more plastic feel (sturdy plastic) which could be the reason for such speculation. Its just a little bigger than the JAM which i think is quite acceptable. You really need to have a play with it to really appreciate its size Wink

Dear Docc,

I would greatly appreciate if you could bring it to "our"attention, i.e. the forum, the minute it reaches the stores.

KInd regards,

This will be a top or second seller for GPS enabled PDAs/phones. Well designed, good company, good processor speed, but the wifi is a true Grumble , but never mind. Next version will 100% have built in wifi.

@ fbeyd

Why do I have a feeling that you are referring to your first PDA plan? If yes, then welcome to the world of PDAs Group Hug that changes every month.

yup, I am under the influence of the Nokia/S60 operating system Embarrassed
In this world, you can't even copy text and introducing that feature would be considered a major change that only comes-by every 2-3 years Wink
