I made a follow-up with HP regarding the release date for this device as you know since we published this story the April time frame is already over.

HP representative was kind enough to reply with this message:

“The worldwide release date for the device is being pushed out to July. We will probably have the product locally only by August time-frame.”

As you can see that the same scenario is repeating, the promised release for the previous model the iPAQ h63xx was pushed back several times and a long wait (over 8 months) was far from acceptable. Now the new iPAQ Mobile Messenger (which could be called hw65xx) is due for release in August 2005 which could be considered by that time a release of an “underwhelming” Pocket PC Phone.

Maybe worth waiting for… you know ipaq has a good reputation for being reliable with long lasting battery life

I don’t know about you but September would be more likely an expected release date because of Gitex 2005,,, and,,, I am starting to loose interest in this device after finding some rumors about the new i-Mate JAM and the expected HTC Universal. There isn’t much enthusiasm - close to non - in Dubai generate for the new iPAQ Mobile Messenger, and this is the same situation with last year’s iPAQ h6340 (which was released in Gitex 2004) it was overshadowed by i-Mate.
