If you have to plug in headset to get TMC reception how on earth are you going to get BT voice directions as the speaker is auto cancelled ??
You would need an ignore headset switch of somesort or damm clever programming to recognise GPS/Headset/TMC in use at the same time

just got the G500. do i need a GPS software to run the GPS? where can i get Navigon 5.0 in Dubai & the maps of Gulf countries?

Welcome to PPCD!

Congratulations on your new purchase. You will need GPS software for navigation purposes but if you would just like to test the GPS hardware, you can use freeware applications like "CeMonitor" (WinFast Navigator) or VisualGPSce to test functions like the number of satellites available to the receiver etc.

You can download the software here:

Please see the "Top 10 downloads" and download the 2 files that say:

1) CeMonitor - SIRF GPS Configuration
2) VisualGPS CE - NMEA Data Logger

Just install them on to your device and run them.
