Hello,

It was also mentioned that you cannot downgrade from he previous version once you upgraded to this new version.

What is the effect of the upgrade to the speed of the device?

Regards

Life is short, enjoy it.

From members on different boards, apart from the addition of a new Comm. manager and MSFP (push email), the device seems to have a buch better battery life and appears to be a tad faster. Apart from that, there aren't any other obvious differences.

@Optik,

You can downgrade to a lower version but that requires a little bit of hacking which isn't really that hard but can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare to people new to it or those who aren't that tech-savvy.

On the downside, I'm hearing of devices that are now sim locked, have the splash screen replaced, buttons that aren't mapped correctly for their region and no ability to change anything in the ext_rom. It seems this is only happening to non iMate branded devices. It seems. Lokiwiz works on some, but not others. So if you're a tinkerer, you might want to wait until these issues have been sorted out before re-flashing yours.

I am most interested in the new comm manager, as the MSFT isn't that important to me. But, since I have installed the U.S. T-Mobile radio rom, I am pretty satisfied with mine, so I'm gonna wait.

Thanks for the 411 DOCC. As always, you're on top of it. Smile

Devices that were unlocked using lokiwiz are now locked again "thanks" to the new ROM and unfortunately trying to unlock it doesn't work as of now.

There are 3 splash screens with the new ROM:

1) HTC Innovation
2) I-mate generic
3) I love Windows Mobile (not joking Smile )

With WM5, the boot-up time is around 40 seconds, now with the 2 new splash screens, i suppose the time must have increased to about 50 seconds (not something we wanted!).

One step forward and two steps backward!

Few days ago, being bored of the problems with my K-Jam, I considered trashing it. But, fortunately by those days i-mate released the new K-Jam ROM. I downloaded and installed it immediately in my phone. To my happiness the new ROM solved all the problems I was suffering, specially one that daily blocked my K-Jam from place and receive calls, which made me frequently soft-reset or hard-reset the phone. With this new ROM -new radio version included- this and several other problems were fixed. It is as having a new phone! I have also noticed that the new ROM speeds up the phone, particularly when I search in my almost 2,000 contacts list. The new ROM does not come with the antivirus which was one of the causes of its slowness. Although I only have 4 days using the new ROM my experience so far is very positive.

All of this carries out this question: Why i-mate put to risk his prestige, launching to the market a phone as the K-Jam with a ROM so plagued with problems that irritate exasperatingly its owners?

Welcome to PPCD cupofcoffee and PepeFirst Smile

Cupofcoffee, its best that you use a browser like netfront or opera, these are MUCH better alternatives to native IE.

PepeFirst, thank you for posting your observations. The new ROM had indeed been a sigh of relief to many. Only thing missing is A2DP which will come with AKU 2.2 (soon) Smile
