Sony has never been a company to shy away from innovation and its computer division is no exception. So it was only a matter of time before they released a machine that put the current crop of UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) machines to shame.

For starters, it weighs in at an incredible 480g, which is half the weight of even Sony’s lightest notebook and considering it comes installed with Windows Vista, it’s a truly amazing piece of kit. The 4.5-inch touchscreen display takes some getting used to but with zoom controls you soon get the hang of getting around the cramped look and feel. Being touchscreen, there is a slight haze to the panel but it’s usable in most situations...

Looks r all fine... what about the price??

Given a choice - I would still stick to the Q1P / HTC Shift

You think the shift is going to be significantly cheeper rofl

Sony are always that bit more than most and you can see why in your performance review

I agree the shift is the better looking, esp the KB.

But I'm under no illusions here these UMPC's are exec gadgets for mobile professionals who can justify the high cost over a conventional power laptop

A normal laptop costs around AED 5000... thats the price of a normal UMPC Smile

No I said a "conventional power laptop" they cost 7000-9000Dhs (ie Tosh/Dell/Sony top models)

If your in to graphics/games a 5K laptop is pants grinning

I belive most UMPC will be 6000-8000Dhs depending on spec and make
