Thanks Denis for the translation. If I tackle the negative points only I would say (in green):

Cons
+ SD card too difficult to slide-in (Concerning)
+ No backup software provided (No Problem I will always use the excellent Sprite Backup)
+ You need to remove the battery to insert the SIM card (This is always the case in every Pocket PC Phone, IMO should not be a big negative!)
+ Slow processor (Concerning)
+ Poor battery life _(24hour in this pre-release device) _ (I have to Benchmark it)
+ PPC Phone Edition that provides only limited phone functions (This is totally normal with this OS, IMO not an MPX negative)

The reviewer didn’t consider 32MB as a negative point which is a big negative in my opinion Roll Eyes

Sounds like Mohd is a definite buyer ...
The SD card is not an issue because you only need to slide once in a blue moon.

The 24hr battery life is normal for a device udnergoing testing meaning heavy usage

The 32MB should it be a problem with a 1 GB card?

Slow processor ... slow as in what? opening programs or running them

I am very curious Alman, the MPX is a very interesting device and I want to try it. Though I don’t like the fact that I have to cope up with 32 MB, that’s as if I am going backwards, but still I want to use this dual hinged design.

I also believe that the MPX is in a class of its own. I don’t want to compare it with PDA2K or JAM. It is actually distinctive when it functions as phone or just a PPC.

I agree with you, Moh'd:
On a purely technical/design side, the MPx is a new concept that worth the interest that everyone put into it around the world (that's why I want one! Bounce).
Once again, Motorola opened a new path, which is to the full credit of their R&D Department!

On the other hand, on a more down to earth aspect, when you're in a shop and you cannot buy all that is available, you'll have to make a decision.
And that decision is based on comparisons:
"I've got so much to spend. Let's see in my price bracket what is available and which has the best price/feature/quality ratio".

From its form-factor, I believe MPx will be on the same market as Jam or E-TEN M500 or even SP3.
Not PDA2k.
What do you think? Very Confused

If you want to know why I don’t want to compare MPX to i-mate JAM, PDA2K, iPAQ 6315 or even Eten M500 is because of many factures that distinguish this device such as:

1) The way you hold this device next to your head as a phone in an opened clamshell position when answering a phone call and during conversation. It is the first of it’s kind.

2) Phone input method is a keypad in a horizontal orientation. Easy to use with a single handed operation, this makes using it more conveniently instead of using the virtual keyboard on the touch screen on other devices. PDA2K provides the keyboard input method but still lacks the convince of a “dedicated” phone keypad.

3) In a closed clamshell position you still can access some PDA phone functions from the small screen. It is convenient to be notified as and when you receive a message or when you check call history or other alarms by instantaneously accessing many important “phone” features. In other Pocket PCs you will need to access the touch screen for even the simplest “phone” operations.

4) In order to have the MPX work more like a phone than a Pocket PC they used a slower processor to increase battery life.

If we took in consideration all of those features we will have to come up with a new market category for this device. Because a Pocket PC Phone is a PDA first then secondly a Phone and a Smartphone is a Phone first then secondly a PDA. I believe the MPX is something in between and it can be either of those.

Once again you're right.
But I put myself in the regular buyer shoes, not as the geek we're almost all are here on this site!

Mr X who still hasn't understood the difference between a Smartphone and a regular mobile - what to say of a Pocket PC Phone Edition!- is only interested in price, user-friendliness and features - to a certain extend only.
And when it comes to buying, they will compare apples to oranges.
You would be surprized to hear what friends ask me when they come for advice when they want to buy a 'geek phone' (as they say)! Drool

Once again, as 'phone freek' you're absolutly right.
And as a phone freek myself, I'm 200% behind you!

That is true, a normal buyer would not care much about the Operating System compared to functionality, on the other hand sometimes a normal buyer is drifted by marketing hype, there many people wants to buy a top of the range high-end PDA with the highest specs and then complain that they cant use it as a normal phone. For example some people demand in a Pocket PC Phone the highest processor speed, 720 MHz or higher, the brightest screen with at least “VGA” resolution. Such specifications would cause the battery to drain so fast and you will end up with a dead phone. One of the most important things in mobility is having a good battery life to use the Phone and a Pocket PC in the same time.

Why the Treo 600 is successful? (Maybe not in the Middle East but other parts of the world)

One of the main reasons that it is small enough to be used as a phone and a PDA in the same time, battery life is awesome, it has a good keyboard as an input method and most importantly it is reliable as a phone. Most people who bought the Treo they want to have it as a reliable PDA Phone. Don’t misunderstand me I am not admiring the Palm OS, I never liked it. I just gave the Treo as an example to compare it to MPX as they both fit in the “Smarter Phone” category. But for the MPX it is still too early for me to judge, I need to see it and to try using it, if it doesn’t come with major flaws I might dump my PDA2K for it. Cool
