I guess that they must of seen recent articles on those poor labours at building sites that were misstreated by thier employer, and thought it was topical. Strangly enough ministry of labour stepped in to solve the problem with immediate affect without any court action, whch is more than can be said for most countries. or When they changed the rules on working in the midday sun to protect these guys. rgds Steve Rgds Steve |

SteveJ,
Exactly! These things are very internal matters! There are lots of labor problems with many PDA manufacturers “in many other countries”. Also HTC are having those kinds of problems, I had a meeting with one of their top managers and he even said that they are having hard time with staff and new employees. Dose that suggests the entire corporation (HTC) is in trouble?! If Mark Morrison or i-Mate founder or top management members decided to leave or sell the company then here we can say there is a problem, but few staff are hired and few others terminated, these things has reasons to happen

Guys, updated post from MSMobiles
In recognition of the need to constantly adapt to the changing business landscape both globally and in the Middle East, i-mate is in the process of restructuring parts of its organization. As a result there have been some changes which regrettably have led to a small number of redundancies. i-mate is committed to our colleagues who have been affected by these changes and will make arrangements to help and support them as much as possible, as well as provide financial settlement within the bounds of prevailing labour legislation and their contracts of employment. i-mate is proud to be headquartered in the ME, and has provided a wide range of job opportunities and career prospects to an increasing number of people since its inception in 2002. In fact, we have identified 97 new job opportunities globally in the coming six months. The restructure in the Middle East is now complete and we remain committed to our employees, partners and customers in the region. Credit: Nadine Salem from i-mate. Look at the 'credit' line... |

Although slightly topical as they are UAE based. We should maybe report when Sony/Nokia/Samsung?Moto etc etc do simiar restructuring. I'm sure they lay-off more than 10 unfortunate employees. Do I recall in recent news thet the MD of Moto changed recently due to falling sales, as after the runaway success of V3 series others havent lived up to forecasts ?? Lets move on and not fall into MsMobiles style of reporting on these matters rgds Steve Rgds Steve |
