Dear Docc,

We sold the first consignment of MPx Pocket PC Phone to specific business clients (Major Customers) at the price of DHS 3490. We will issue a reduction in price for the second consignment that should arrive next week. We will make an announcement there after.

Thankyou for the prompt information. I will look forward to any updates on this.

On a side note, isn't AED 3490 fairly expensive for a device like the MPx? And i am not referring to it as expensive bcos of the price u are quoting it at. I jus generally think that a device as crippled as the MPx is not really worth that price.

The JAM which is for AED 2600 is almost AED 900 cheaper and is more functionally useful than the MPx. So does this mean, that people are willing to pay for this device despite its inadequacies purely cos of the form factor and the sheer "bling bling"?

I for one wud never buy this device, not even if it was priced as much as the JAM. Money spent demands Value and this certainly doesnt have any.

May i ask, what about the support and warranty for this device? Are u offering some kind of personal warranty and support or do you intend to send it to Asia if required, or do u not offer any at all?

Thankyou for your replies.

Dear Docc

We will introduce this item for a lower price point. This decision will be taken by the Management and we will update you accordingly. Our initiative was to satisfy most demanding customers with special requirements, such as Mr. Mohd. Smile We will post more details about it in the forums.

Thanks

An initial impression posted on the MPx by one of the members on howardforums.

MPx thoughts ( By CrudeOil on Howardforums)

Hi all

I posted my brief thoughts on my experience so far with my MPx on the Motorola board yesterday so I thought I'd share them with you guys too....

I really like it!
So far its NEVER locked up on me or crashed or anything nasty (touch wood!).

The form factor is awesome. Size folded is smaller than the JAM and it fits in your pocket pretty well (i'm not into cases etc.).
I also like that fact that it feels like a mobile phone and not like a PDA. Just flip it open and the call is answered.
In Landscape mode you can do most things without the stylus using the menu buttons and keyboard.
The keyboard itself is pretty easy to use even for my fat fingers and typing SMS's is dead easy.

I think for the light to medium user the MPX works. However for a power user the CPU and RAM is too limiting.
I've got a 1Gb SD card in with my MP3's on and I've installed my apps to the card too.
I've also got a Star Wars Episode 3 trailer on the card but when I tried to play that it was very jerky and virtually unwatchable.
On my JAM it plays like a dream and watching a movie would be feasible.
So I guess this is where that crappy processor shows itself.

I mainly use my PPC mobile for:
- SMS's (don't get mentioned much on these forums but we do like our SMS's here in Europe)
- listening to MP3's
- Appointments
- occasional web access (mainly for football scores)
- a few word documents
- and most importantly pcAnywhere for access to our company servers

I'd call this relatively light usage and so far the MPx has handled it all without a hitch.

The camera, like a lot of phones, is crap and the flash is just worthless.

All in all, I'm pretty pleased so far.

Think my JAM might be going on Ebay soon
