Ok guys,

I made an excel sheet with some basic information abt the different devices. I am sorry for the haphazard work as i dont know much about excel. Someone who is better at it can perhaps make the required changes. I'm attaching it here, so take a look.

Whatever information is lacking, let us know so that we can make it a complete chart.

Another MPx user(pelzl) impression from howardforums....

I bought an MPX300 off ebay from X and have been using it for a week. It was the third phone I bought from them so I was not nervous about spending that much money with them.

The reason I am writing this is to hopefully help those that are on the fence about this product can get a fair assessment of what they might be buying. I am new to this forum and came here for opinions prior to my purchase as well. There are already some very good reviews present and I encourage you to read those as well. Also the mobileburn.com review is a good reference as well.

For me this device is mainly a phone, then a pocket PC. I would say if you are a serious power user or finicky about 100% performance you should look at other devices or wait until some of the kinks have been worked out.

I have had issues here is what I have experienced. The device has locked up on me 3 times this week in various different ways. First was sitting on my desk I opened flip phone style and the screen did not come on and no response from keypad or screen input. Soft reset fixed it. Second was I was synced to my PC and trying to load pocket music software from pocket mind. Phone totally locked up no response from anything. I had to remove the battery, do a hard reset and restore a back up from my SD card. Third lock up was after talking on the phone on my way home from work in hands free mode with the included wired headset I opened the flip and the phone was locked. No response from keypad or stylus on the screen. Phone was still working fine as I was in the middle of a conversation. After the call it was still locked up. Soft reset fixed the problem. Phone was getting warm after about 30 minutes talk time by the way.

Other observations are the phone is slow to respond or launch applications. From the moment you select an application or action it can take from 1-3 seconds to start. This is most observed by pressing the call button on an incoming call and having to wait 2 seconds for the phone to start working the call. From what other have said this is probably due to the lower amount of ram present in the device.

Things I really like are size and packaging. You cannot beat it with another phone. At first I thought it was a little big as a flip phone but the size is really growing on me to smaller flip phones I have had. The matching leather case is excellent. I bought it from a separate auction with X and they shipped it in the phone box. The internal screen is really good. It is very readable and bright. The cell reception is very good. At least in Austin, TX on the T-mobile 1900 mhz band. I am traveling a lot to Asia and Europe starting in February so I can report back on the performance there almost always the service is better overseas regardless of the handset for me.

My last comment is about upgrading the firmware of this phone. I really hope Motorola has an upgrade (preferably user/self) path for software revisions on this device. There are several really quirky things that will/could be easily fixed in software that I would have to think they will implement going forward. If anyone on this newsgroup knows people at Motorola it would be cool if we could confirm this.

I am sure some of you that own this phone will disagree with some of my comments. This is just my honest opinion from my usage point of view. I hope this helps anyone that is concerned about spending $900 today for this device.

This happened to me only once when I was using my MPx heavily during testing several applications and loading different programs trying to multitask. I guess with 32MB RAM is not a good idea to do that, but I just wanted to mention it since it has happened to this user. This didn’t happen during my test only after I finished and left my device in my pocket after a while. You can avoid this problem by using your MPx more as a phone than a PDA, or more as a “Smarter Phone”
