Option Globe Trotter GSM/GPRS PC Card or any other card can be used with a headset only. You can use it without 3rd party software but for data only. For both data and voice you will need to install Running Voice GSM, it is the most powerful program that can be used with these cards. Some manufacturers bundle this software with thier products.

its look from the reviwe that the iPAQ’s GSM/GPRS sleeve fit much better than AudioVox Again any experience or idea about this option and the new iPAQ 4700 |

Actually I don’t think you will be fully satisfied with this combination (GSM/GPRS CF card + Pocket PC) to use it for voice, but only for data purposes it could a reasonable solution, however there is a compromise in other areas, such as the iPAQ hx4700 comes with 4” VGA screen, it consumes a lot of power, adding a GSM/GPRS card will drain the batteries even faster.
What should concern you the most as a mobile professional is the mobility of your device. Obviously battery life is vital. The Pocket PC Phone is the best solution to use your device as a phone, there is little compromise and an almost balanced functionality for both the phone and the PDA. However still it is a Pocket PC fist, then secondly a phone. In case of a Smartphone it is mostly like a phone and secondly a PDA. You can see which device serves which purpose |
