Arguably, hp they provide really good customer support including quality products, I always loud hp’s efforts in making innovative Pocket PCs. I do have the same impressions about their quality and excellent designs. However I still think they could’ve done better in the converged devices market. Surprisingly still no Pocket PC Phone from hp!!! But do you remember the h5600, yes this was the project that was canceled, it was rumored that the radio module including phone applications were faulty and bug ridden, thought I don’t completely agree with this story. From the engineering point of view the product could’ve made it to the market and there with minor issues. But as always happens in major corporations, marketing plays an essential role in product launching. I just wonder what are the technical limitations they presumed having with this device preventing it to make it to stores! Of course only hp knows the answer to this, but I am sure they are preparing a superior device, could be the h6000.

...think I read somewhere that a 5600 was sold at ebay some time ago. So this device actually exists, but as you say...It never came public. The reason given in that story was the merger, or something like that, please correct me if I am wrong...

That could be possible. Details are a bit sketchy about this story. You know this device is not small, so since hp were able to cram all wireless features in the 41xx series which it has the same size of the 19xx series, I think they can build a device that can hold a built-in GSM/GPRS module, Wifi, BT, SDIO slot, finger print scanner, a 256 built-in RAM, and a CF slot as well, and all of that in the h5500 form factor. It will be truly the ultimate device. Thought it is possible to make such a device, I don’t think hp is going to release it due the price, sure it is going to be very expensive. And I am not sure if they will continue with this form factor, the most recent release is the h5550, for how long they will continue with the legacy of Compaq’s iPAQ. The h5550 (Which is a minor update of the h5450) could be the last model in this line, I simply don’t see a promising future in this as well as the sleeves.

As gadget lovers, get the best for the day. At the momment i-Mate is it. I have no loyalty for any manufacturer.

I know a 75 old man that wants to buy a laptop computer so that he can write a book, but is waiting for a couple of years till they become cheaper. I dont think he is very ..... (dont want to insult him).

Bottom line - get the best of the day -i-Mate
