I would like to let you know that this product will be available in Dubai in June most probably June or July 2004. Smile I got this info from official HP Middle East representative. So it is official and we are glad that this amazing device is coming to our region. That means this is the unlocked version. If I received new info I will let you know. For now lets us know if you really think that this device will be the i-mate killer! Wink

Hi I am back,

I see people who currently bought the imate are biting their lips lol as I said before this is going to be the imate ‘Killer’ Twisted Evil

It has all the wireless features, it looks much better than imate, iPAQ is known for its reliability so it is going to be reliable, there will be an optional clip-on keyboard which is essential for a PDA phone, possibly you will be able to use it as a remote control with Nevo, memory is good 64 mb ROM 64 mb RAM, it has GSM/GPRS+QuadBand+BT+WIFI+Camera, what else do you want!!! Drool

I am lucky I saved my money for this device. I think the release date is good for the people who bought imate since October or November 2003, so it will be the right time to buy a new Pocket PC after 8 months. Not every one of us can afford to buy a new PPC every 6 months, but this is the trend in Pocket PCs, they get old very fast. 6 months is the life cycle for every PPC IMHO.

Mohd are you going to get one for review?!?! Bounce

yes I will be getting one inshallah Smile

I think it is going to be very exciting, I believe this device is qualified to be the top of the range Pocket PC Phone in the market, obviously with the inclusion of the Wifi.

I think still many PPCD members are focused on i-mate Smile

It is important to have the antenna extending for better reception, did you forget that you have both wifi and GSM/GPRS plus BT!??! Confused

The antenna doen’t look bad at all, actually it adds a nice touch to the device, the imate without antenna is more suitable for women. lol The antenna is adding a manly muscular look to the device, it feels more like a gadget, and it look more sophisticated Smile

I am very excited to see the device in real life, not just in pictures. I remember previously many people thought the h2210 series was very ugly from the fist pictures, but everybody’s mind was changed when they saw it in the showroom. Sometimes pictures they don’t give justice to the device.

Well.. 64ROM/64RAM isn't that a bit low? HP should realize that 64 isn't enough anymore.. I hope the 2 versions rumor is not just a rumor.

And what about its IT processor? is it gonna be as good as XScale's performance?

I am having alot of doubts about this machine, but am sure its gonna be a good unite since its coming from HP. i-mate needs a competitor to make it run better.

Missing WiFi and a long range IRED were the major downs in i-mate.. but I still don't know about the processor, since its IT, and most existing progs and applications got an ARM support. Means we're gonna have to wait to see applications working for IT's also. And as long as you cannot install stuff on it then I guess its useless. I hope am wrong tho.

And yeah I hate the antenna also.. but what do you actually mean with "manly mascular look" do you mean its like a man's umm... what i think you mean? Confused lol

I rushed when I got my i-mate. But I still am not regreting that. I think I wanna wait to see all the troubles and complaints coming out of HP's new ruler before I decide to get one.

Thanks

I am really eagerly waiting for this device, because presumably there is some new stuff that could make it a tuff competitor to i-mate. I also recall TI makes better processors for PDA phones, but I just need to know how good it is practically with WM2003.

I am too concerned with software compatibility, but this processor has ARM9TDMI core base, I think there won’t be a lot of problems in software compatibility. And even if there was, I am sure most software vendors will seriously consider providing the required compatibility for this device. I am sure HP took this into account. Wink

I like the large battery and the design, this device is overall slightly smaller than i-mate, not by much though, but it is shorter. Possibly it will come with a lot of HP goodies and free stuff. Bounce

It depends on how you think of it lol

But that was not intentional Mohd Admin Roll Eyes

I am sure that imate will not survive infront of the iPAQ h6300. And when you think of it if IPAQ is released in June that will be a perfect timing to kill the imate, because most of imate owners will think of this: shall I keep it or shall I sell it. specially the people who bought it October or November last year, in June it will be 8 months old. This is the time when everybody wants to buy a new pocket pc. Wink
