thanks guys,
OK here are some of my concerns/requirements: 1.which device(6515,kj,benq p50,etc.)is the most stable i.e least unwanted hard/soft resets since reloading info again and again in wm2003se can really be unnerving. 2. a processor strong enough to open large word files quickly for fast refence of info and quick edits. also allowing fast search of words etc. from the The Holy Quran. 3. a good software to open large files of arabic word docs with the ability to edit them. 4. arabic letters on the thumbboard.(preferred) 5. ability to download real player.audio quality should be superb i.e easily audible through provided headphones. 6. is there a Holy Quran software for 240x240. 7. also what are your views regarding the hp69xx is it worth the wait and by when will it be actually arriving and what price will it be? 8. the jasjar looked good but i want a device which i can carry with me always and the jasjar disheartens me in this aspect. 9. if there is something more suitable coming soon i.e in 2/3 months please advice. 10. these are some of my concerns and i hope for the best (advice) from the best (ppc site) to attain the best (device). thanks. |

6515 - is a 64/64 RAM ROM device... so you cant expect more power from it...
also 6515 is 240x240 which is not supported by real-player. 69xx is also 240x240 screen... If you look for device with thumb-board... you are near to finding the device.... 6515 doesnt have arabic - so you might have to isolate it - for this reason. You also removed JJ from the list... so the device you can take with you from iMate is K-JAm / PDA2k. Other manufacturers... no idea Holy Quran can be downloaded into any device that supports Arabic - ppl, please correct me if I am wrong All the best... |

@Lionheart,
I will try to answer your questions chronologically 1) Regarding device stability, since they all use WM 5 OS, they are all likely to be just as stable. What changes this is the number of comaptible/incompatible applications you install on your device. From my experience, you won't go wrong with WM5, its the most stable WM OS till date. Also, since WM5 uses persistent storage, there is no question of hard-resets. You will not lose the data unless you choose to hard-reset it yourself. Also, there are a couple of backup programs such as SPB Backup and Sprite Backup now available which makes restoring data a painless process 2) In my opinion, the bare minimum to run WM5 OS efficiently is 400 Mhz while the optimum is 520 Mhz. 624Mhz would be a treat but would take a severe toll on the battery life. All devices that come with 624Mhz have an automatic processor scaling application which basically increases/decreases processing power depending on requirements. Make sure that you don't purchase a device with the OMAP processor as they are over-hyped and underperform. Whatever anyone says, they are slow and not really meant for PPC OS. 3) A great file explorer software is from Resco called "Resco file explorer". Regarding opening/editing of files; that depends on the processor and partly on the software. For instance, the best applications to open/edit word files would be Clearvue office software. 4) If you want Arabic customised hardware, then at present fortunately or unfortunately i-mate devices are the only one's that come with a customised keyboard. 5) Regarding real player files, audio quality depends on the bitrate you have encoded them. Even if you connect your player to the best HiFi system in the world, audio quality will be poor if the files have been encoded in a low bitrate and vice versa. 6) Seeing that 240x240 screen devices are becoming popular, i am quite sure that sooner or later, the Holy Quran software will become compatible. 7) The HP69xx will do right what was wrong with the HP65xx, mainly the OS and a few other hardware changes such as a better memory structure (RAM/ROM config). It will be available by July if i am not mistaken and the price should be around AED 2699. 8) If you need a PDA primarily, then nothing compares to the Jasjar. If GPS is something thats important to you, then you can always purchase a BT GPS receiver 9) In the next 6 months, plenty of devices are going to hit the market. We can suggest a device to you based on your requirements. Till now, all we know is that you expect the device to have arabic customisation and real player support. If you can list your requirements, we will be able to guide you better. Docc. |
