Does anyone have any idea why my HP-6828 (Atom Clone) would lose a substantial amount of battery power overnight, despite the fact that the phone, bluetooth, alarms, infrared receive option, reminders are all off.
Please help with views whether a similar issue is also being faced by Atom users. Could the editors please also add the HP rw6828 & 6818 in the list of Quanta devices on the Forums Home Page. Cheers! |

Sorry Steve. I completely forgot to post my reply. I've been discussing this issue on the HP forum and looks like we have a solution which WORKS!
It appears that this is a problem with WM 5.0 and the problem is with the Acivesync continuously trying to sync. Most all of the previously introduced WM5.0 model Pocket PCs have had an issue of the battery discharging after being off for some period of time. The rw6828 is experiencing the same problem. The problem is caused by the way WM5.0 and ActiveSync. You can tell by noticing that despite closing Activesync (thru the 'running programs' module, and without synching with your PC, it still springs up again and again in your running programs list. If this seems to be the problem, you could try the workaround that works very well on WM5.0 devices. The workaround involves setting the ActiveSync application on the Pocket PC to sync manually. Unfortunately, the setting you need to access to do this is grayed out (unless you have set it up to synch to a server). So to gain access to this setting, you will need to add a dummy server setting, change the ActiveSync setting to manual, and then delete the dummy server setting. To do this: Tap Start > Programs > ActiveSync Select Menu > Add Server Source Key in 1.1.1.1 in the Server Address box Tap Next Enter your name and any kind of nonsense in the Password and domain boxes. Tap Next > Finish. Tap Menu > Schedule (this was grayed out before). Change each drop down box to "Manually." Tap Ok Now delete the dummy server: Tap Menu > Options > Delete > Yes > Ok. Despite deleting the dummy server, the setting of manual does not change, so don't worry. Now one notices that the Activesync does not spring up in 'running program' unless called for by deliberately running it or when synching with the PC. Hope this helps all! |
