What is the best GPS setup for my PDA2K?

Is blue tooth the way to go - so I can have a device above my car whilst I use my PDA2K in the car?

What is the best holder for the PDA2K for use in the car?

What is the most user friendly so I can enter my GCC offroad camping spots and routes for later usage?

What is the best value or is it best to buy a seperate GPS device?

If ur looking at a GPS device particularly for GCC, then ur only option is Informap which is available all over Dubai.

If ur thinking international, then ALK technolgies Co-Pilot BT GPS is the best option.

BT GPS is always the better choice.

As far as holders are concerned, there is no commericial holder available for the PDA2k per se. U can get custom ones made though which i wud presume is the better option.

Its more expensive to buy a seperate GPS device....buyin a BT GPS is definitely a better option.

Informap is not a native navigation software but an interactive map with optional GPS nav support. It doesn't work on PDA2K (it won't install). On top of that, if doesn't support BT GPS receivers.

EasyNAV (available in Axiom, Y*Fi) on the other hand is a TRUE GPS nav software and it works like a charm on PDA2K with BT GPS receiver. You'll be impressed how easy is to drive around UAE with it. Not very detailed on point-of-interest database when compared with Informap but they're working on it as we speak and updates are planned shortly.

There's a specially designed car-holder cradle with vacuum suction gooseneck (you fix it on the windshield) for PDA2K from Arkon (www.arkon.com), model number: CM750. This holder is amazing. It's powered (it will charge your PDA), has a built-in amplified speaker with volume control knob (you'll hear those GPS voice commands, loud and clear!), power jack for GPS receiver (...so you can charge it on a looooong drive). I've been using it for the past month and it's really, really good. I highly recommend it.

cheers

Beno
