After reading many comments in all I-mate PDA and ETEN PDA i was found that the i-mate have alot of problems more than Eten PDA which lead any one to really stand a lot to chose between them .

i would like to know which country I-mate made and also Eten ?

i-mate is popular in here egypt but today with existing of many companies manufacture these PDAs i found the I-mate company don't accelerate them products

where when you O2 Company release a new PDA with radio and ETen release PDA with GPS you found I-mate release a PDA like PDA-N with GPS and not phone + Jamin where it is similar to jam even when they released K-jam + Jasjar they let the first one with smal processor and the nest one with big case .

they must be release a device with a common features that it is used today world wide

Thanks

Profound and pertinent observations. I can't agree more.

PPCs and PDAs are almost exclusively made in Taiwan rebranded by carriers/marketers worldwide with the same generic device sold under different names/branding.

How we wish we had that magical device that packed all these scattered features in one device. Best processor, highest speed, largest memory, latest OS, highest MP digital camera, great GPS, best resolution large screens, great connectivity - Quad band/3G/UMTS/Edge, excellent networking/Wifi, flawless BT with A2DP, comprehensive native suite of software...

Even if it was technically possible to put all that in one platform and still get flawless and seamlessly integrated performance from each feature; it does not make good business sense. While you can bake a great cake, the customer would still be picky about the garnish. There can just be no universally acclaimed perfect device. Each feature has a price and there's just that many customers who will pay for the cost of that many features. A balance in the end user pricing and the features that can be juggled in that price is what concerns manufacturers. Better to mass sell devices with features identified on market segment by segment than to have just one do-all, have-all device that few will afford.

Again, while most individual users like us would want a lot of things, if not everything, in our devices; corporate clients who buy in bulk need only very specific features that address their primary business needs.

bluethunder, I don't think we will ever have that panacea device since neither the needs nor the budgets are universally consistent.

Having said that, I will still challenge, implore and beg the manufacturers to come up with at least "a collectors edition" device that will converge all available features into one device and charge their price. That will be a segment in itself, won't it?.

The problems with such a device (strictly from a manufacturing and engineering standpoint) are a lot:

1. Heat -- the closer to compact these devices, the more heat you will generate, and the more heat you need to dissipate.

2. Power -- You can have the great combo device, but if it only runs for 3 hours because of all the devices stuck in it, no one will buy it.

3. Portable -- Take the JASJAR for example. Its a great example of a solid device, but already a few of my users are complaining at its size and bulk, and it only has a few of the bells and whistles.

Suppose that manufacturing processes advance and microprocessors become smaller and smaller and eventually there is the possibility to create such a device, you then run into the problem of practicality and marketablity. It doesn't matter if you have the best device out there if you can't sell it because its too expensive or there is no need for it. Then you are at a loss, and remember that all these businesses are here to make money after all.

I have seen this alot in the ME because here people purchase phones more as accessories and less as tools. I am willing to bet that 95% of the users that purchase these 'gee-whiz' gadgets don't even use 10% of the functionality beyond SMS and GSM. I have seen very few 'power' users out there. Most just buy these devices because they are the latest gadget around.

As the CEO of i-mate said in a recent interview, their target market is customized devices for business users (not actually end consumers). So in this regard, they will be working with their OEM partners to make devices based on what businesses tell them they need.

All in all, its a great time to be in the market because the choices are vast. You can get a device to do just about everything -- except make toast -- however, since there is a Linux enabled toaster, I can't imagine that this would be a problem Big Grin

And your problem is ?????? Big Grin Big Grin

We could apply this to most things especially cars, but it would be boring if every thing was based on actuall usage zzz Big Grin

Most purchase are based on cost vs bundelled features ie more stuff for your buck.

This is why the Bond appealled but failed to deliver in performance.

We all want more for our money regardless if we use it daily. Take GPS day to day most wont use it but undeniably it's a great addon.

You need to thank us Gadget lovers who want it all as it means everyone gets this eventually as the OEMS have to add it to compete. Cameras are a good example of this.
