Welcome to PPCD
You should know nothing seems to last two or three years in the PC market let alond PDA's. My advice would be to buy a seperate BT GPS which will last the distance and work with most devices. Look at gpspassion.com for reviews/info etc Then buy the PDA that suits you all around to get the maximum benifit vs cost. Factor in your mapping software like Navigon5/6 rgds Steve Rgds Steve |

Hi, ashraf1974, welcome to PPCD
Your post gave me a feeling of deja vu. You are right, in the melee of PPCs out there it is not only difficult to grope around for a device perfect for you, more often than not you end up buying on hype only to feel cheated later. However, ashraf1974, SteveJ is right. Any device you buy now will be legacy quite soon. Steve is also right in advising a separate GPSR unit since it is a utility in its own right and it is hardly necessary for a user to have it converged on his/her PPC platform, although it may seem convenient. What Steve is hinting is that you may continue to use your GPSRs for a long time (...GPS which will last the distance...) even as you change your devices. And there are pretty good GPSRs e.g. Holux with SirfStarIII that can give you GPS capabilities on almost any WMPPC with BT. There is of course the Benq P51 coming up around July/August 2006 (although Benq is quite notorious for delayed releases) which has built in GPS, which I can easily recommend owing to my personal experience with the Benq P50 and considering your dilemma of being able to own a device for long time without changing it in the near future. In this day and age of WM5 and snazzy Imates, Etens and what have you, I find it very difficult to part with my P50, still on the WM2003SE, for its extremely reliable performance. It answers all my needs and there's nothing, yet, that prompts me to switch devices. I too came to the P50 after frustrating myself with two other well knowm PPC phone brands. If the P50 is any indicator of things to come from Benq, the underdog turning into a dark horse, the P51 should be a great device. If ever I have to retire my P50, it will be succeeded surely by the P51. No, I don't work for Benq; but if a company gives me value for money, that company gets my whole hearted support. |
