Please can you expin e.g if i har reset my unit , everytime my Sync needs a new Profile?

CAn t I use teh same old profile?

Everytime I use it , it says already in use

Please i'm new to this Sync Stuff frankly

Also a question for teh experienced PPC users. What do you guys do usally with your contacts use Outllok to Sync it ( cos Outloook can mess it up sometimes) or just use XbackUp to back it up on Permamnent Memory Area

Once you created a new partnership between your Pocket PC and Desktop then you don’t need to recreate it every time you connect the device to your desktop. ActiveSync should detect your device and just synchronize your data on the fly.

In case you have done a ROM update then you will have to delete the old partnership and recreate the new one.

You can set the device name on your device: settings > About > Device ID

There you give a name which is different from other partnered devices on you desktop. If you are still having the same problem, try to save your data, then reinstall ActiveSync.

Your Pocket PC and PC should connect on the fly every time you synchronize.

OK. I dont have a partnership problem ,it works prefect

Question was liek yest due to some reason i did Hard BOOt , so its liek a new format PPC now

I cant syc to get all my old data in ....cs it says old name is in use...is there no way to use th OLD partnership name before teh HRD BOOT was done?e.g?

After Hard reset your desktop will not recognize the same shared partnership so you will have to recreate it

For contacts....dont depend on outlook.

Use xbackup or permanent save. I have set a reminder to do a contacts n appointements backup every week.

You, like me and most others, would still want to use a preferred device name. Just "delete partnership" from the file menu on the desktops active sync icon and resync. Now you can sync with your preferred name, which could be same name you used before the hard boot. Since you had deleted old partnerships, using the same name that you used earlier will be treated as a new partnerhip name. The default is "Pocket_PC" which you can change to another of your choice. Of course, you may already have sync'd with Outlook before so that the data now being sync'd is current and up to date to the time of your hard boot.
