Hi All,
Have a new Asus P525; asking Etisalat to send the GPRS settings doesnt work because they can't see beyond iMate and despite saying the OS is the same, they won't oblige. Last time I had the problem, someone was kind enough to send me a CAB file (that was iPaq and PCmobile 2003 OS). Can someone help me please? i tried installing the same CAB file, but it has not set the mnet settings in the handset. Any guidance/help would be appreciated. |

Dear Mr PaulRaj,
Thanks for the prompt advice. I am reproducing a mail below to ASUS which will be self-explanatory. For the benefit of other users of this forum, I can send those two attachments to you; I do not know how to post them on this site. I am assuming that this mail would reach you only and not get posted on the site. Please remove this if it is in public domain. Quote Hi Mr Ghazal and Mr Dantes, I did all the steps very, very, scrupulously. I still could not get connected to the Internet. Since it was trying to connect to waselmnet and mine is a GSM connection, as suggested by your reseller I edited (manage existing connections link) the etisalat connection by changing the access point to mnet, user and passwords also to mnet. everytime I get the error message Quote The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later Unquote finally I discovered what was the problem... YOU ARE GIVING THE WRONG PROXY server address in the settings. I presume it is the Saudi Proxy settings which someone has forgotten to take out when the changes for Etisalat was written!!! So perhaps you could, in your circular mail below, add a line for the UAE customers about removing the proxy??? and also changes for non-Wasel users??? But I still have a few complaints about the handset. 1) Yesterday suddenly the address line in all messages (e-mails, SMS/text) disappeared. Just one day of use and a glitch? 2) Your reseller forced me to back up and hard reset the instrument. When I restored the back-up the glitch was still there. Then I had to restore an earlier back up I did yesterday so that the messaging address line is restored. 3) Now the handset is not synchronising with my laptop!!! The other one is general.. 1) Why can't the resellers be told to provide the etisalat settings at the point of sale. Don't give excuses such as a user may use the handset anywhere etc.; Is it such a problem for the reseller to ask the customer where the mobile would be used? I had to waste so much time yesterday fighting with Etisalat and trying to find out the settings through various sources. Not to talk of today because of your incomplete instructions! Over all, it has been a disappointing experience buying the P525. This is hardly customer service!!!! regds nandakumar ----- Original Message ----- From: Mohmmed Naseer Ghazal To: nkk@emirates.net.ae Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2007 10:31 AM Subject: Fw: GPRS Settings & Bluetooth Patch for ASUS P525 PDA Best Regards Thanks, MUHAMMAD NASSER GHAZAL Technical Support Microtop Computer Co. Please find attachment for GPRS Settings for the ASUS P525 PDA and follow the procedures below: 1- Just extract the “Network Settings.rar” filename 2- Copy the extracted files, both the “FlashInfoFactory.exe” & “FlashOpInfo.xml”, to your Mini-SD Card 3- Connect the Mini-SD Card to your P525 PDA & browse for the “FlashInfoFactory.exe” filename and click this file. 4- The update procedure will be finished automatically and will restart. 5- After the PDA restarts, go to “Start”, “Settings”, “Connections” and click on “Network Settings” and choose “ETISALAT” for the Operator options and choose “OK” This should fix the GPRS (WAP & MMS) Settings for the PDA. The Second attachment is for the Bluetooth Patch for the P525. For this file, there is no need to extract. Just copy this “CAB” file to the Mini-SD Card, browse for the file using File Explorer and run the file. This will automatically update the Bluetooth Settings and will restart right after updating. Thank you. Best regards, Oliver Dantes Service Engineer ASUSTek Computer Inc. MEA P.O Box: 113499, Dubai, UAE Tel.: 00971-4-2833728 Fax: 00971-4-2833729 |
