Hi guys, my M500 has died. run sprite backup last night and, after the backup finished, it reset and then..... not much.
the boot starts and gets to 'Erase all data and load default ?' and then stops whether i answer yes or no. only a slow blinking red light. i have a rom upgrade but is there a way to use it without active sync, which is what it is asking for? any help appreciated before it goes in the bin :-(
update: i have got into the usb/sd loader screen so i only need a rom to load. i've googled but no luck, anybody have one?

good news is i found a rom, bad news is .....it is chinese (which i am not)
and it is not that easy to use anymore now i know how, all i need is an english rom, anybody pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

i have posted these instructions on another site (eten user), restored back to wm5 (english!) and sprite backup did the rest.
instructions if anyone is interested,
you need file WM5_ROM.rar from http://rapidshare.com/files/25388466/M500_WM_5.0.ZIP.html

first thing is you have to have active sync working, which i didnt as my rom was corrupted, but i managed to load the 40ch.bin (chinese wm2003) from the eten user download area directly from the sd card and loader

copy keyMaker.exe to pda
run KeyMaker.exe on pda, click apply when error message appears, click apply, then write down long key number
pda goes to loader screen, restart pda
run M500v2_WWE_R01_211_0298.exe, accept all boxes until you get to 'FINISH'
go to c:\temp\ directory and copy temp.dat to desktop
exit M500v2_WWE_R01_211_0298.exe
you now have the install key number and the rom image to load but you have to load it from m500_upgrade_winxp.exe (on XP)
run m500_upgrade_winxp.exe, accept all boxes until you get to 'FINISH'
go to desktop and copy temp.dat back to c:\temp\ and overwrite one thats there
click finish then loader program will run
(menus and boxes are all ?????'s)
on first menu click ??? box in bottom right corner
next box was EUU ???flashdisk?????? , answer YES (maybe only got this because of wm2003, ignore if not on yours)
next is big box saying that the program needing the install key number is on your PDA
key the long number into the PDA and apply
click ??? box in bottom right of big menu on PC
PDA should be at loader screen waiting
on next menu at PC, click big box in the middle (not bottom right one)
if you get another another popup menu with ! on, click yes
you will get a grey progress box showing ROM installing
PDA should show ROM loading
wait about 10mins for loader to finish,
restart PDA and enjoy WM5
